jubilee garden party

Published: Saturday, 16th April 2022

To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of our dear Queen, we will be hosting the Barrow Close Jubilee garden party. The venue garden is at No14. This large garden has the space and seating for all residents and guests, as well as good disabled access. Toilet available with 2 step access.

We are aiming for a Sunday in June, but this will be informed by member availability. 'Afternoon tea' is the theme of the catering (sandwiches, buns etc) and home cooked contributions are very welcome but please include ingredients info.

We will have a special 'Queen Elizabeth Cake' cutting ceremony along with a toast to the Queen, flag waving and the national anthem sing-a-long.

Through this celebration we are keen to acknowledge the Queens dedication to service as well as introducing new residents to a taste of traditional British culture. This will also be a good oportunity to reflect on the last few years and catch up with each other - as well as being a lot of fun!

We will keep you updated and we would be delighted to see you there.

Parking Committee

The committee sits once a month (suspended during the pandemic) and is open to feed-in from all residents.

NEW RIVER VOLUNTEERS

This group was formed in response to a number of issues and requests over the last year. Their focus includes:

  1. New River pollution/litter picking

  2. Wildlife spotting

Ben can be approached on the river bank on Thursday mid mornings.

Recent security concerns

A number of recent incidents has prompted this latest focus on security, such as the vehicle safety and keeping gates and doors locked.

Barrow Close still remains one of the safest places to live in London thanks to the eyesd and ears of our members. If you have any concerns let us know in the usual ways.

Plant Cuttings Exchange

Help us to expand the diversity of plant-life in our neighbourhood. Add to our open list of available plant cuttings from our member gardens.

We still have a limited number of hardy banana plants (one per household)

The Queen's Birthday

It has been a long tradition in our neighbourhood to celebrate royal occasions. The upcomming birthday of our dear Queen is also important to our community as a way of providing some fun and community involvement.

Happy Birthday Ma'am
